Selling the Northeast short

Dad sent me this article from the Boston Globe along with the following commentary:

This article illustrates what the locals here are really good at-- unfortunately it's not worth much when it comes to solving problems or creating jobs:
- identify problems (that are obvious)
- figure out who is to blame (usually an identifiable political figure, in this case Governors)
- suggest that there may be a solution in a chinese menu of alternatives while excluding -- by rejecting or failing to mention obvious possibilities, (like encouraging the development of an LPG terminal) and espousing the known impossible alternative (cut down on the use of energy, stop driving around as much, cut down on a/c and other electric appliances) and then point the finger at the political figure and say solve the problem.

If stock in the NE were traded in the market place, I'd say sell short.

I have nothing left to add, that pretty much says it all.

The link to the article wasn't there, but I can pretty much figure it out from your dad's commentary. See my post The Smart-Talk Trap for an analysis of the kind of thinking (apparently) represented in the article.
