Annoying shit people say defending illegal immigration

Anyone else out there sick of all the tired, overused arguments against illegal immigration reform? Had enough of euphemisms like "undocumented workers," or of having people simply drop the word "illegal" from the conversation altogether to make you sound anti-ALL-immigration?

ME TOO.

Here are some of the most annoying arguments and statements I've heard this week, and here are my snappy (or snippy as the case may be) comebacks to them. Please note that there are different comebacks for the same arguments, depending upon who's making the argument in the first place.

If you find that any of them will save you from pulling one more chunk of hair from your head, or from losing it entirely and putting your foot through your TV (or up someone's ass), your fist through a wall (or in someone's face) or your gun in your mouth (or someone else's), feel free to use them, as often as necessary.

  • "Undocumented workers are willing to do work no American will do!"

To the agribusiness/construction/sanitation or other mass employer:
"I don't go to work and pay taxes to subsidize your business. If you can't afford American workers, maybe you shouldn't be in business."

    To the politician:
"I don't work and pay taxes to subsidize your campaign" (see above)

    AND

"I don't go to work and pay taxes to buy you votes."

  • "People who want to tighten border security are racist!"

To the (most likely) illegal immigrant or his/her children:
"If wanting to keep out lawbreakers and their spawn makes me racist, then I guess I'm guilty as charged. Funny though, I didn't realize there was an entire race of people known as "lawbreakers."

To the politician, limosine liberal or other bleeding heart/ass-kissing type:
"So I'm racist for wanting to welcome only immigrants who come here legally, but you who agree that we 'need' to exploit illegal workers to prop up our economy, you're not? Tell me, do you pay your gardener/nanny/housekeeper minimum wage and cover their insurance costs and taxes yourself? I rest my case."

  • "These people just want to pursue the American dream...Family values don't stop at the Rio Grande...They're just hardworking decent people."

    To all:
"Then tell them to carry the American flag to their next protest rally, not the MEXICAN one!"

    Or:
"If they have such a great work ethic, why did they cheat to get in to the country in the first place?"

    AND...
"Tell it to Janice who was robbed and threatened for almost two years by illegal aliens. Tell it to the countless vitims of rape, murder, robbery, narcotic trafficking, gangs violence and vandalism--people who, in addition to being victimized in these ways were often racially targeted because they looked 'anglo.'"

I am so damn fed up with the bullshit being fed to us by the politicians (on BOTH sides of the aisle). It's time to stand up and answer these bogus arguments with some TRUTH for a change. Romanticizing this situation by equating the illegals of today with the Ellis Islanders of yesterday is not only factually inaccurate, it is dangerous. In fact, if even one politician suggested setting up an Ellis Island-type process again--complete with physical, mandatory existence of an employer or sponsor prior to arrival, possession of enough money to go back if found to be unsuitable for entry, etc... I'd be all for it. But allowing these people to just stream accross our boders willy nilly, with no way of keeping track of who they are, what diseases they are bringing in (can you say "bird flu?") or what their real motive for coming is, is just plain suicidal. The only question that remains is which part of our nation will we kill first--our national identity, our national security, our culture, our economy, or our physical well-being.

If you ask me, they are all in critical condition at the moment, and it's time to stop the bleeding before critical becomes terminal.

You left out my all-time favorite...

"THESE PEOPLE PAY TAXES!"

Yes, but only in the same way I "paid taxes" this morning when I plunked down $1.46 for a $1.39 cup of coffee at 7-11.

If they're here ILLEGALLY, they don't have a valid SS# or Taxpayer ID#, so they're not paying state or federal income taxes.

If they're here ILLEGALLY, they don't have a REGISTERED motor vehicle, so they're not paying any registration "fees" (read: taxes), nor are they paying any motor vehicle excise taxes.

If they're here ILLEGALLY, they don't have a permanent address, so it's doubtful they own the house they're living in, so they don't pay property taxes.

If I were to "forget" to pay any of the above taxes, I would be subject to punitive measures, including monetary fines and possible prison time.

I don't want special treatment. I just want all the "rights" that an illegal alien in this country enjoys.

Also, to remind you. When everyone complainded of Welfare and Clinton kicked the moms off. While there is no way she can pay for a baby sitter with that. Welfare has been alive and kicking. Mostly for immigrants and Visa people. They get everything! In Mi.Ghramholm made a bill the doctors have to start using machines to tranlate their language so we can abade their needs! While I can't get a doctor to understand me now! Once again we the people have been left in the cold. truth! Not to mention our Cosnstiution states our rights which they did not abide to- which gives us our priviliges which is even hard for us Americans. They have Priviliged Rights! Wait till ya see them after they are made free to have all our properity. What a bunch of bunk. I agree, what taxes? They made it clear several years ago, we are here to take it back!! I do believe something behind this. I know they are poor, but? PegMi
