[Via Lee]
There are no words to desribe the revulsion I feel when I realize, as Lee says, that "this is what passes for left-wing dissent these days."
Excuse me while I go puke.
Posted by insomnomaniac at August 5, 2003 12:26 AM | TrackBackIf you think that cartoon is "left-wing dissent" you are as ignorant as the cartoonist. "Left-wing" and "liberal" are not landfills for everything you hate. Liberals are not 100% wrong any more than you are 100% right. I don't think you are even batting .500. Quit going for the easy answers and the applause lines all the time.
It was interesting to read the comments about gay marriage. You enjoy beating up all of the usual suspects. You know that if you apply the appropriate label to the enemy (democrat, liberal, celebrity, Clinton, government worker, public teacher, Arab), readers will nod in agreement and proclaim your brilliance and insight. Anyone who disagrees is by default a left-wing tree hugging dope smoking McGovernick who needs a shower and a pistol-whipping.
However, when it comes to honest disagreement on a complicated subject like gay marriage, you get tired and a little cranky when people whose opinions you respect can't unanimously agree on a simple answer. Some liberals are against it. Some conservatives are for it.
It's a tough one. Reasonable people of good faith might disagree about it. The people who disagree with you on this are not liberal demons with horns on their heads and Birkenstocks on their feet. Maybe thats true for other issues as well?
Posted by: kennylee at August 5, 2003 8:40 PMYou know Kenny, I could appreciate your comment more if you chose to write it on the other post. But to act like this cartoon is anything but the filth that it is is really disturbing.
And I said "left-wing" most deliberately. I am well aware that "liberal" and "left wing" are not necessarily the same thing. To me, the former is far more extremist than the latter.
As for the other motivations you claim I have, you're wrong, but I'll leave it at that.
